My Chemical Romance Trolled Their Fans

On the 20 July, My Chemical Romance poster an entirely cryptic message onto their social media accounts, revealing a mysterious date: 9/23/16.

Most fans believed the band would perhaps be announcing a 10th-anniversary tour for The Black Parade, a few reunion shows to say thanks to the fans.

Unfortunately, no such announcement was made; My Chemical Romance was trolling their rabid fan base, the teaser being for a reissue of their seminal album.

The band posted a note to Twitter, captioned “Thank you so much for the love.” It reads: “We’ve been really touched and blown away by the response to the teaser trailer. “We are not touring and there is no reunion planned - only a release for the anniversary of The Black Parade. Thanks so much for continuing to keep MCR in your mind and hearts.”
As you may have suspected, fans were not best pleased by the news there was no reunion tour, many complaining that the band should have known the online response would be huge.

One fan wrote: “Why are you going to release something if you already released something similar? Why did you do all this? This is mean. Really.” Another added: “You could have said this sooner.”
Famous for hits such as I’m Not Okay (I Promise) and Helena, the band released their final album Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys in 2010 before announcing their split three years later.
