Mad Max: Fury Road is easily the best movie this year.

The first few garbled minutes of the movie is basically that Max (Tom Hardy) is captured by a band that fallows the insane and sick (physically and mentally) orders of a masked warlord named Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne), and is taken to a fortress called "The Citadel". Max is branded as property and is used to provide blood (called a 'blood bag' in the movie) to a young warrior named Nux (Nicholas Hoult), who believes Joe's twisted theology based on Norse mythology and cars. Nux was led to believe he is dying and wants to go out in a blaze of glory in service to Joe. Immortan Joe controls the people of the Citadel by controlling and rationing out the abundant the water supply at the Citadel. He tells the people not to get addicted to water and to do without. Isn't he a nice guy??? ... NOT!!!! Joe keeps a harem of wives because he wants a son that he can rise as a warlord and heir to his kingdom. The wives do not want to live with him and had arranged to escape in a secret compartment inside a tanker/war machine driven by Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) while on a supply run to Gastown. Joe finds out about the escape and decides to give chase. Nux convinced a friend to let him join in and let him take his blood bag with him.

The action in this movie was always high octane and always Intense. I found myself easily glued to the screen and on the edge of my seat. It has a good story. The created world itself is thoughtful and detailed, full of wonder and surprise. It is full of memorable characters, and Charlize Theron was perfect. The movie is wall to wall action from beginning to end.

See, I think that Max is the protagonist, while Furiosa is the hero. Different roles, but equally important. The big thing that many people seem to be missing is that Max is absolutely vital to the story, and not just because he's a viewpoint character.

I will say that there is one inescapable silly element in the movie. It is that one of the chase vehicles that Joe has with him is a rig with a group of drummers pounding war drums in the back with a heavy metal rock guitarist in front playing a guitar with a flamethrower attached to it. It looks great at first but it becomes a sick glitch as the film wears on and how the director spends way to much screen time on it.

Even though fans have had to wait roughly three decades for the fourth entry in the franchise, it definitely seems like the wait was worth it. Some of the drama doesn't resonate at all, but with action this entertaining, who even cares?

This is one of those movies that actually met my expectations. It's probably the best action movie of 2015 so far. And when I say action for this movie, there is LOTS and LOTS of action. I can't say it's the best superheroes movie so far, but it takes the cake when it comes to the most action sequences so far.

When Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) jumpstarts a dormant peacekeeping program, things go terribly awry, forcing him, Thor (Chris Hemsworth), the Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and the rest of the Avengers to reassemble. As the fate of Earth hangs in the balance, the team is put to the ultimate test as they battle Ultron (James Spader), a technological terror hell-bent on human extinction. Along the way, they encounter two mysterious and powerful newcomers, Pietro ( Aaron Taylor-Johnson ) and Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen).

The cast were as great as ever and so familiar in their respective outfits and persona's but it's the additional superheroes that add flavour to this epic sequel. Robert Downey Jr. is still excellent as Iron Man, while with Chris Evans it's hard to believe that's the same guy who played that tiresome Human Torch in those Fantastic Four cheese sandwiches. Mark Ruffalo is very good as well, as is all of the others. The inclusion of another female superhero, with the brilliant Elizabeth Olsen playing 'Scarlet Witch' seemed to steal the show and bring some much needed darkness to the Marvel world.

This movie is brilliant. It has everything. Comedy, action, suspense and strong characters. The comedic elements in the movie, mainly at the start of the movie, work really well and create chemistry between the superhero's, which was lacking in the first movie. Next, the action sequences are prolonged and a bit mad, but not on a Michael Bay level. The sequences work really well, and the best piece of action is the Iron Man v Hulk scene, which wows and adds more to the characters. They never feel lost to the egos of Captain America and Iron Man, and give the film an angle the first one never had in the end: A feeling of sadness and tragedy at the ending, and it is set up perfectly for more Avengers movies.

The first (known) absurdity was that despite the presence of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, they were not called by their names. And that was because of Marvel's rights issue with 20th Century Fox when they sold the rights of the characters of the mutants to the X-Men franchise. What's more absurd was that they were not even called 'Mutants'. They were 'Enhanced'. The end result is that we don't feel anything when Quicksilver dies because the characters are not given enough depth.

Ultron is never really intimidating as a villain because he is to personalized and to often made fun of.

Will Smith stars as Nicky Spurgeon, a third-generation criminal who never holds a gun and never hurts anyone – besides the financial losses they suffer at his sticky hands. He doesn't steal big things, like, say, a load of gold bullion, a famous painting or the cash-on-hand from three Las Vegas Casinos. He steals watches and necklaces, wallets and handbags, credit cards and cash. He calls it a "volume business". He can steal so quickly and so frequently that he makes quite a good living for himself – and sometimes for his friends. He has a crew that he occasionally uses for big events, like the Super Bowl, where there are big crowds with lots of money and valuables on hand. And there is honor amongst this group of thieves. Everyone gets a fair cut. No back-stabbing involved. Well, almost none.

Into this world stumbles Jess Barrett (Margot Robbie), an aspiring thief who is foiled in one of her ill-conceived "jobs" by Nicky and begs him to teach her a few things. Rather than a thief, he calls himself a con man. That tells us a couple important things about Nicky: He takes pride in his cerebral approach to stealing and he's cut out for more than glorified purse snatching – and he knows it. Jess knows it too, but for now, she's content with learning as much as she can from this very talented criminal. Nicky and his cohorts put Jess to the test in a crowd of people. She does well enough to earn a spot with the Super Bowl Snatchers (my term, not theirs, but it fits) – and in a bigger con that follows. Three years later, they both find themselves in Buenos Aires, Argentina for a big Formula One race. They're each involved in some way with Garriga (Rodrigo Santoro), the shady owner of one of the race teams. This situation opens the door for Nicky's biggest con yet – and one with a lot more at stake than "just" money.

The start is really promising, it was great to watch the cons take place, we were given some incredibly intense sequences. One in particular took place at a football game which really made me feel the heart-racing tension that Will Smith's character was feeling at the time. The movie does slow down towards the middle before picking up again which let it down a bit, because it could have been more given the cast and promising start. The characters I thought were very believable and there was no far- fetched business which sometimes ruin movies like this.

Led by the charismatic Will Smith, Focus boasts an interesting anti-hero. He's very versatile, able to perform in comedic as well as more serious tone. Robbie has a wide range of acting too, she seems natural although sometimes leaning heavily on femme fatale cliché.

Focus is not the best movie in the world, but it has some intricate mechanics that keep you on your toes. I admit it is not the most exciting adventure, but there is more than enough drama and romance to keep most engaged. The acting is good, the techniques are entertaining, and the movie is only 100 minutes long, all positives in my book.
