I know nothing about bank investment but saw the movie rating is high so I was interested to this movie. Tbh this is kind of 'hard movie' for me.

Several years before the 2008 housing market crash, Scion Capital founder Michael Burry (Christian Bale) notices the subprime mortgage vulnerabilities and seizes the opportunity to invest. Purchasing large quantities of credit default swaps from numerous major banks, his unorthodox activities attract the attention of trader Jared Vennett (Ryan Gosling), who in turn convinces FrontPoint Partners hedge fund manager Mark Baum (Steve Carell) to buy into the scheme. Despite extreme criticism from colleagues and severe skepticism from clients, the obstinate few that forged ahead and bet against the economy wound up making billions while the rest of the world lost trillions.

Maybe I just don't get it or maybe you have to be in the banking industry to care but it's very boring. It's literally just guys talking to each other and about money the entire length of the movie. I kept waiting for something to kick in- story, characters- something! After watching it, I was thinking: I lost 2 hours of my life watching a movie (not for the first time), but after these 2 hours I have nothing to show for - I didn't understand anything of it (maybe for the first time). OK, I said even if it's not my kind of movie, I should at least know what is going on in it!

The best part of the movie was actually the performances of the actors. The acting is exactly what you expect from the actors in it. I don't need to tell you that, we're talking about A+ talent all around. Yet still, Christian Bale manages to rise above this shaft of talent and steel the show, proving once again he is just the man. Steve Carell brings Baum to life, even if he does over act at times. Ryan Gosling, embodies the fact that he's a scum bag and just rolls with it, offering an entertainingly slick performance.

By the end of it all, the lead characters don't appear heroic or revolutionary, or even particularly wise. Their successes in going against the grain have the aura of luck or gambling instead of intellectual brilliance. Even when they face corruption so widespread that it's become synonymous with normal commerce, there isn't a sense of winning or losing – merely weathering the periods of time when the villainy of banks and the government are at their most extreme.

I watched the movie a few days ago, I was not expecting so much before I went to cinema, but to my surprise it made me feel like I was watching original Star Wars trilogy. I enjoyed it so much. I've watched Star Wars IV & VI just few days ago before watch the new one but I already knew the basic story and the characters since I was a kid so if you never watched the Star Wars series I think you only need to watch Star Wars VI and find out the characters and how they are related to each other.

Luke Skywalker has mysteriously vanished, leaving the Resistance in dire straits. In his absence, the First Order, lead by the evil Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), have begun implementing their will with force. Finn (John Boyega), a disillusioned Storm Trooper, absconds from his post, and joins forces with Rey (Daisy Ridley), a feisty female warrior who has in her company BB-8, a droid who may hold the key to Skywalker's whereabouts. The pair are joined by Han Solo and Chewbacca in their mission as it progresses.

Daisy Ridley and Harrison Ford make this movie. Rey is the bad ass female hero that feminists have been longing for since forever. The character absolutely nails what's required - don't whine for respect, make people respect you through your actions. The returning cast members give the new generation a taste of what it was like in 1977. Han Solo , Leia, Chewbacca, C-3PO & R2-D2 all have impact-full and a well deserved lasting performance for one particular actor.

The movie is dynamic and will not let you sit bored for a second. Still it manages to establish the premises of the movies, while leading up to a sequel we can't wait for. In general the attention to detail is amazing, so fans will experience the full magical star wars universe, while new-comers will fall in love with what all the hype is about. The humor was actually quite funny, but never to an amount that feels excessive or childish. The movie could easily take some more time, but it sets up a lot for number 8. I'm going to say that the movie was actually very good. It had its great moments of nostalgia but it did have moments that weren't so hood. For example, the lightsaber duel was extremely disappointing. But overall I think it was good. J.J. Abrams returns the series to an iconic status and starts to rebuild the legacy in ways not seen since the 80's. The movie is essentially review proof but I will say, believe the hype. This is the Star Wars we have been waiting 30 years for.

All together a really great movie, kept me wanting more while I was watching hoping that it wouldn't end. But when the movie did end I was satisfied.

It was reported that Rita Ora sued Jay Z and his Roc Nation label because she only released one album since she signed her contract in 2008.

Now Rihanna is being blamed for causing the court drama and for ruining Rita Ora’s career. According to a report in the U.K. tabloid the Sun, Rihanna used her power and her relationship with Jay to make sure that Ora’s career never happened. The report also claims that Roc Nation would give potential hit songs and tracks to Rihanna first, which of course Ora didn’t find too fair.

“Rihanna has never liked Rita and has been using her power at Roc Nation accordingly. This is the main reason the label’s execs have been uninterested in putting effort into promoting Rita. Songs that might be submitted to her are automatically given to Rihanna, who may then hold them for months before deciding she doesn’t want them.”

There have been whispers that Rihanna is not a huge fan of Rita Ora. Back in May, it rumors swirled that RiRi banned Ora from her Met Gala after-party at the Up & Down club in New York.

“She has a real issue with Rita and this was her chance for revenge. She made it clear when organizing her party that Rita was not to gatecrash under any circumstances.”

The insider also told the Sun that Ora’s ex Calvin Harris wrote a series of hit songs for her but has prevented her from releasing them. The DJ also banned Ora from performing their track “I Will Never Let You Down” at the 2014 Teen Choice Awards. The British popstar told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show why she was a no show at the award ceremony.

“For anybody who doesn’t understand how it works, he wrote and produced the song. So he has to approve anything TV-wise for anybody who doesn’t get it. And obviously he owns the rights to it and he didn’t approve the Teen Choice Awards.”

Calvin took to Twitter to address those accusations. He told the fans that they only heard one side of the story and that he had a good reason as to why he banned Rita from performing the song at the Teen Choice Awards. Unfortunately for her, Calvin is also signed onto Roc Nation, giving him more power over her, and the company failed to intervene when the couple disputed over the song.

“The fact that Rita’s ex Calvin Harris is on their management books hasn’t helped either. He is one of their highest earners, and they did nothing to stop him when he blocked Rita from using songs that he had written on her album.”

Rita Ora signed onto Roc Nation after she flew out to meet Jay Z in New York, when she was just 18 years old. But she has grown frustrated that the label has done little to promote or boost her faltering music career. She claims that she’s been “orphaned” once they expanded into Roc Nation’s sports agency and Jay Z’s streaming service Tidal.

In the papers filed to L.A.’s Superior Court on Thursday, Dec. 17, Ora described her relationship with the record label as “irrevocably damaged.” The lawsuit claims that her contract violates California’s “seven-year rule,” a section of the state’s labor code that explains a court cannot enforce contract on an artist seven calendar years from when the deal began.

The new Peanuts movie is sensational. It is absolutely classic Peanuts. They have not wrecked Peanuts by making it a 21st century melodrama that deals with issues of various sorts.

Charlie Brown crushes on a red-headed new girl (her name never revealed; she is always drawn and developed as a distance character, admired by Chuck from afar) who moves across the street, but he's so shy and considers himself so insignificant, he isn't able to approach her. So he spends the whole movie trying to find ways to do so. The winter dance is coming so he gets help from Snoopy, his loyal pet dog, on how to bust a move. Another opportunity comes when he draws her name from a bowl for a book report (War and Peace is his selection), putting it together while she's away tending to a sick grandma. When Charlie supposedly makes a perfect score of 100 on a big test, he becomes a school celebrity, but this could be a case of mistaken success as his paper and Peppermint Patty's got mixed up as they rushed to turn it in on the teacher's desk. Meanwhile, a companion to Chuck's travails with trying to earn the attention/affection of the new girl is the dreamed up fantasy of Snoopy, typing away on a found typewriter in a garbage (he is tossed in there by Lucy who orderly informs him that no dogs are allowed in class with the students) bin about his attempted rescues of a foxy fighter dog as The Red Barron (at the school, a toy red baron plane is flying loose, at one point ruining Chuck's book report which he stayed up all night to prepare!) poses a threat. Woodstock, the bird buddy of Snoop, often critique's the dog's work much to its dismay.

The animation in this movie may've bagged the 2-D and made 3-D instead, it is just amazing. The backgrounds are just breathtaking in the red baron scenes because it showed it unlike the Charlie Brown Halloween where the flying scenes only showed the sky. Charlie Brown and his friends may look a bit simplistic, but it's OK. The animation showed that they could bring peanuts to Computer Animation. It looks almost flawless and maybe even a bit hand drawn. So you've got to look into this great texture of hair and backgrounds, it's that amazing.The animation was wonderful and the nod to scenes from the previous holiday specials was lots of fun to recognize and rehash in the theater experience.

The characters in this movie are unforgettable just like the classics. The side characters like Lucy and Snoopy are just hilarious and fun to watch even if they are just 2-D. The main character, Charlie Brown is 3 dimensional and he try's to accomplish his goals. He's also lovable because he shows helpfulness and honesty. Then there's the little red haired girl whose face was revealed for the first time since the 1977 Charlie Brown short, "Its your first kiss, Charlie Brown". Even though they revealed her unlike the comic strips, she's still really cute, and uses her very few lines in the movie to tell Charlie Brown about how she liked him for who he was, which was sweet. The voices are mostly done by unknowns but it still awesome.

If you're a fan of Charlie Brown and Snoopy, go watch this movie, Even people who never watched the Peanuts cartoons or read the comics should watch it. The only people I don't recommend it to are those who hate Peanuts because even though its modern, its still Peanuts. One additional detail I would like to make is the fact that we never see one cell phone nor computer in the movie. This shows that the environment stayed around the 1960s era. So go watch it, it's a treat.

Based on the non-fictional novel of the same name by Nathaniel Philbrick, In the Heart of the Sea is a semi-biographical movie that, in theory, has all the makings of an epic action-adventure. Narratively, the movie is a layered account of the Essex Tragedy - an 1820 whaling expedition that went horribly wrong. 30 years later it served as the inspiration for Herman Melville's Moby-Dick, a loosely based account of that tragedy that told of a devastating encounter with an enraged sperm whale.

Even though young Melville's (Ben Whishaw) interview with the truculent Nickerson (Brendan Gleeson) bookends the movie, let it first be known that these scenes are in fact fiction, for there is no way that the real-life Melville could have access to Nickerson's memoir, since the book 'Moby Dick' was published in 1851. The setting is 1820 Nantucket, Massachusetts, where whale oil is a booming business (this was almost a century before crude oil was discovered). Famed whaling ship - the Essex – is commissioned to bring back 2000 barrels of whale oil, with the assurance that first mate Owen Chase (Chris Hemsworth) will be promoted to skipper on his next voyage. But even before they set sail, tensions rise between Chase and Captain George Pollard (Benjamin Walker), whose only qualification is his privileged family name. Between ego bashing and bad navigational decisions, disaster strikes when the Essex encounters a mammoth sperm whale with what appears to be a bad case of premediated ferocity. What happens next is history but the aftermath of the attack leads to an unthinkable and horrific revelation that even Melville left out in Moby-Dick.

Acting wise, the movie was pretty good. Chris Hemsworth was the obvious standout, he was able to show off his acting talents quite a few times throughout the movie, but still it was nothing amazing. The supporting cast was also mostly pretty strong, Benjamin Walker and our friendly neighbourhood Tom Holland were good, not great, just good strong performances. Ron Howard did a pretty good job directing the movie, most of the time he nailed the tone of the movie. The dramatic action scenes were filmed and directed in a very frantic and chaotic manner that upped the stakes during those intense moments. Especially in the latter portions of the movie he does represent the sad tones and emotion pretty well and handles some very confronting scenes in a way that isn't too disturbing but also isn't sugar-coated.

This real life Moby Dick is directed with enough assurance and visual flair by the professional and proficient Ron Howard that throughout its two hour run time there's enough to warrant a cinema screen viewing but you can't help escape the feeling that in the end we were never hooked the way we should be to this almost unbelievably huge adventure.
